With your purchase you also receive 2 additional replacement batteries.
There are also four additional heart rate monitors, the Polar FS2, FS3, FS4 and FS5, that have additional features at an additional cost. Call us for information on these models.

1. What is a heart rate monitor?
A heart rate monitor is a lightweight piece of equipment that comes in two parts;
a chest strap and wristwatch. Heart rate monitors provide an accurate and effortless way to measure your heart rate while exercising. Almost all heart rate monitors:
           • Record your total exercise time
           • Record your average heart rate during your workout
           • Alarm you when you’re working outside your desired workout level
           • Upload your workout information to your computer to track progress

2. Are all heart rate monitors waterproof?
No. Make sure to ask us which ones are waterproof before buying!

3. Where can I purchase one?

From us! WaterGym’s fabulous distributors FitMed Inc. are the online national leader for heart rate monitors. The Polar heart monitor above is one style that they carry, but there are others to choose from. Just call us on our toll free number!

4. How to I use a waterproof heart rate monitor?

All heart rate monitors come with simple instructions, but here’s some basics
for use in the pool. The chest strap is worn directly on your skin (underneath your bathing suit if you are a woman).

BEFORE GETTING YOUR BODY WET …
           • Take chest strap and wristwatch out of package
           • Moisten electrode pads on the underside of chest strap with water
           • Fasten chest strap just below your pectoral muscles (or breasts)
           • Put wristwatch on and turn on according to instructions

You will see a little heart flashing on the face of the watch. This little heart beats in time with your heart. The number displayed on the watch is your current heart rate. Simply look at the watch to instantly know your heart rate during your pool workout! Word of caution: Lift your wrist out of the water when pressing buttons, as they should not be pressed while immersed.

5. What if my waterproof heart rate monitor isn't working?
If you don’t get a reading, or you just see a blinking heart, rotate the chest strap to the left closer to your heart to get a stronger pickup. The product name on the transmitter will then be positioned almost under your left armpit. Sometimes cardiac patients can have more trouble than others establishing a heart rate. If this is the case, have someone without a heart condition try out the unit to help rule out a faulty unit.

6. What if my heart rate reading seems incorrect?

The wristwatch may be receiving electrical signals from another source i.e. a motor, TV, or air-conditioner. Even fitness equipment can sometimes cause direct interference to the heart rate monitors. In this case, bring the watch within a few
inches of the chest strap, or move away from the other electrical source.

Also…
           1) Make sure to wet the electrodes and put it on a dry body, so it stays            in place. Otherwise it can move around which can give a false reading.
           2) Make sure your strap is comfortably snug.
           3) Make sure you are 3 feet away from other’s wearing heart rate
monitors, to avoid picking up their reading. Remedy: bring watch within a            few inches of your chest strap to re-calculate.
           4) Under wires on bathing suits can cause absent or erroneous readings.
           5) Saltwater can effect the reading
           6) Make sure your flotation belt is not rubbing and moving the front panel.
